Crazy Heart (2009)

Crazy Heart is an intimate look at a Country singer on his last legs. In many respects this movie has a strong parallel to Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler". In both cases the hero of the movie is in the twilight of their career, both want to achieve more but don't take care of themselves, both find a love in their life. The details are different and the endings are not alike but the flavor of the movie is the same. There is wry humor that makes you laugh out loud in the theatre but basically it is an excellent story with great acting...especially by Jeff Bridges. He deserves his oscar shot with this performance.

But a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake's life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake's relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na'vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.

MOVIE REVIEW: With Avatar, James Cameron has created a cinematic journey that movie goers have never experienced! It is that good!

The visual effects are spectacular! The movie stills of the CGI characters do not do them justice. Simply put, you have to experience them in action, at the movie theater. You will never look at other CGI characters the same again. They will seem amateurish. Cameron breathes life into his generated actors. You will witness facial muscles twitching, skin around eyes stretching, and facial expressions that look 100% authentic.

The world we are taken to shines with life and realism. One side of the film puts us into the real world, where the 3D never seems forced. The other side of the film is done almost completely with special effects, CGI, real life actors, and green screen. The thing is, after viewing this world for a few seconds, you will completely forget that it is computer generated. Oh yeah, I'm serious.

All I can say is wow, wow, wow!!!

The story is good. It's not the greatest story ever to shine on the screen, but it's still good. Plain and simple. Some say it is a little preachy.... that it deals too much with hot button topics, like the environment. Well, while it may not be your cup of tea, remember that it's just a story. Dive into it! A film's story has to deal with some sort of topic, right? This movie's story did not seem forced at all to me. It fit very well and flowed seamlessly.

That's about all I have to say about the story. You can read all about it in other reviews.

Finally... and this is VERY IMPORTANT! 1) You have to experience this film in a theater. 2) And, in the theater, you must see this film in 3D. If you don't, you will be doing yourself a severe disservice. 3) And, on top of that, if you can see it in IMAX, DO IT! It's worth the extra distance driving and also worth spending a couple of extra bucks at the ticket stand. Believe it! Also, get there early and sit in the Middle-Middle of the theater. If you can't get that, sit further back. If you are forced to sit in the front, do yourself a favor.... walk out, go to the ticket booth, and exchange your ticket for the next showing. You do not want to waste your experience squished at the front. You will miss too much, and that's just a waste. Come on, you can do better then that! You know it!

Go see it. Now! Go ahead. I'm serious! Why not? You will be taken to a world that will knock your socks off! ....Wait..... What are you doing still reading this? For real! Get up... now! Find out where the closest IMAX 3D theater is and go. NOW! Bring your significant other, if you have one. If not, go by yourself. That way, you can put a jacket on either side of you and have extra leg and arm wiggle room! If you're reading this in the wee hours of the A.M., that's fine. Don't stress out, home-slice. Drive to the theater and wait out front for the doors to open. You'll be first in line. Get it? Ah-Hah! You'll get your choice of the very best seats!

Go! Now! Tell the ticket dude that I said hello. Snag your 3D glasses as a souvenir, even though they ask you to return them. That way, you can show them to your friends or family many years from now, and say, "Hey, these are the glasses that I wore when I saw that amazing movie Avatar! I saw it, because I read this stupid review on yahoo. It wasn't even that great of a review, but it made me go see it! And now, my friend... I give these 3D glasses... to you!"

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

This historical telling of the awesome Chun-Li is a must see for any Street Fighter fan. The action is good and the film makers do a good job showing her signature moves without making it seem corny or unbelievable. I concur with other reviews in stating that Chris Klein's Europol character should have been left on the cutting room floor.

The two main villains in this movie are M. Bison, portrayed by Neal McDonough, and Balrog, portrayed by Michael Clark Duncan. Let's start off with M. Bison. Neal McDonough did an excellent job portraying the the movie's main villain, a sadistic and cruel businessman who runs a crime syndicate called Shadoloo. McDonough perfectly captured Bison's cruelty and evil in this movie, and it could be clearly seen throughout many parts of this movie, be it eating dinner calmly while his business partners are hacked to pieces by his henchman Vega, or when he snaps Chun Li's father's neck without so much as a moment's hesitation. Bison is the epitome of evil in this movie, and what is perhaps most creepy is how calm and polite he is when he commits such atrocities. Too bad in this movie that he DIES, which annoyed me, as it goes against the whole plot of the Street Fighter video game storyline. Also, don't expect Bison to do any Psycho Crusher moves or Knee presses, the only person in the movie who has special moves is Chun Li (too bad). Bison fights with his bare fists and fights with moves that resemble Karate with some good old street fighting. Too bad there is no mention of Bison's Psycho-Drive or psychic power.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009)

DESCRIPTION: America's favorite furry brothers Alvin, Simon and Theodore are back. Because of a freak accident involving Alvin and Dave Seville, they go to live with Dave's cool cousin, Toby and they have to enroll in school like every other kid. School presents new challenges to these rock stars like dealing with peer pressure, football and of course, girls. By "girls" we mean the Chipettes who are managed by Ian Hawke, the Chipmunks greedy former manager who wants to turn them into the next big thing. There is rivalry between the Chipettes and the Chipmunks at first, but in the end they realize that they make great friends and a great musical team.

MOVIE REVIEW: The first one was really good and when I saw the previews for this, it looked like it would blow the first one out of the water and it did. The film is awesome, very funny and very cute. It's better than the first by far and I am definitely going to buy it. There goes another awesome movie from 2009! God, 2009 is the best year for movies, in my oponion. Well, I love every minute of it and it's definitely worth seeing at the movies with your kids! Merry Christmas! :) Thanks for reading!

Quantum Of Solace - Movie Review

The new James Bond movie was a very strong in the action scenes and visual effects, so it makes the audience very hyper during the movie. The storyline was really good and it is related to the Casino Royale. Being a Bond fanatic myself, it's also quite hard not to compare this and its predecessor, Casino Royale, to the Bond of old. But one must remember, this is a fast track to the younger days of Bond, However if you are a devote older bond movie lover, then this will disappoint. There are no romance, no new gadgets, the pretty girls with cute names are missing, and the trade-mark grin of Bond doing a dirty trick on someone is missing, No gleam in his eye and not once did he say the famous line "MY NAME IS BOND JAMES BOND". James Bond normally goes his thing with intelligence, competance, wit, charm, cool gadgets, and the occasion fist fight. In this movie "James Bond" wins mainly through straight violence. This James Bond is more like any old action hero, then the smooth and cool spy we used to know and love.

So I suggest you to watch Casino Royal before this movie because it's related to the Casino Royale. With no doubt, Daniel Craig is the toughest James Bond, and his fighting skills are unique and better than others. He is very serious and does his best to finish his works well.

Slumdog Millionaire - Movie Review

"Slumdog Millionaire" is a totally welcome and very pleasant surprise. If there was any film I would without hesitation tell a friend to go see, that film would be “Slumdog Millionaire”. Not only is it truly an original film, it has one of the most memorable sequence of scenes involving a young boy that has ever been captured on film. The acting in the film is very good from the entire cast. Three separate actors have to play the main character, Jamal, as well as his brother Salim. All three actors who play both characters do a great job. Even the younger actors show a great range, while none of the 6 actors have one particularly weak link of any kind. Much of the supporting cast must have been famous in India because many of the older men in the film just did a magnificent job. The love interest in the film, Latika, was believably gorgeous when the final actress began to play the older version of the girl. There is no specific actor in the film that I can look at and say was miscast.

It was a thrill seeking romance that brought warm feelings and immense danger all rapped up in one. The movie out shined all the "egotistical" movies out of the water, this my friend is the movie that isn't given all the hype it is suppose to receive.

This film teaches us never to give up, follow your dreams to happiness, always love and never hate anybody, be honest, work hard, remember your past but don't hold onto it, and to just be yourself.

I recommend this film to many.

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. The movie itself was a good movie. If you are wanting to see a good old fashion action movie then this is the one for you. If you saw Die Hard and Speed put them together and you get this movie.

John Cena is a decent actor and this movie is a good one for him. He doesn't show off his physique and that helps give him some credibility other than just a wrestler. The biggest problem of the film is the camera work. I think the camera work is horrible. If you saw the Condemned with Steve Austin there were several parts in that movie that the camera work was horrible.

That is the only drawback to this movie. The camera work at times almost makes you sick because it is moving so fast and it is hard to make sense of what is going on.

But the acting I think is fine and the story plot is enjoyable. Just don't go into the movie expecting a movie with a deep plot. It is a good old fashioned action movie with an excellent actor as the villan who is always one step ahead.

Race to Witch Mountain

We went to the movies to be entertained and left the movie theatre feeling completely satisified. This is a family movie, with pleanty of action, a story line that was not complicated, and characters that were easy to cheer for.

Some of the "so-called" professional critics should take a 10 year old with them the next time they review a PG rated film. If you have children, take them to see the movie. If you are an adult and are going to see the movie, keep an open mind - it's not a remake of the original films; Disney took a good idea and added a modern spin to it.

I went to the movie expecting it to be a entertaining film, but not as good as "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" because I find the book"Prince Caspian" less interesting than the previous. However, I was thoroughly impressed by the film, and can say that I enjoyed it more that "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", because I think that the movie "Prince Caspian" has an older audience in mind. There was a little more violence and the movie's pace was faster then the last installment of Narnia. Overall it was an excellent film.

Hancock was a very funny movie with lots of action. The visuals in this movie were very cool. The special effects were very good as expected. I think they were better then in some other superhero movies. It was a very different superhero movie.

Hancock was a very different, drunk, mean, smelly superhero. The twists in this movie were very good. They were kind of pretty obvious and others were unexpected. The direction of this movie was great. Will Smith was a good actor as he usually is. He had very good moments in this. He was definitely funnier than you would expect. The best thing about him was he didn't try to be funny he just was. This was probably the best action comedy movie made since Rush Hour. This movie has a very high budget for a very short movie. It was funny how all of the kids loved Hancock, but most parents all hated him.

Charlize Therron was very pretty and had some good scenes. Will Smith and her and many funny, action, and dramatic scenes together. I think the movie remained pretty consistent all the way through. If anything it got a little better toward the end of the movie. I also thought the story was really good and didn't give anything away until the end. Just know going into this movie you have to be aware it is very far-fetched and very fake. So don't read the other reviews that say how fake and dumb this movie was. It was very fun and entertaining to watch. I would even go see it again maybe to catch anything I missed. Overall go see this movie it was very fun and surprisingly had a ton of heart.

This was a great film, it was much better than i expected it to be. The actor who played Biggie did a phenomenal job. All the actors did a solid job, my one wish is that they had someone who sounded like and looked more like Tupac Shakur. Anyone who likes Hip Hop should go see this movie. it will give you knowledge about past hip hop and what is was like to be a rapper in the Gangster-Rap era (the 90's). Even if you are not a fan of Biggie Smalls, you should defiantly see this movie.

Seven Pounds is just like what the trailer indicates, a movie with numerous suprises and also teary moments--and boy there are a lot of them in the film. Will Smith stars as Ben Thomas, who made a tragic mistake in his past and tries to make up for it by helping 7 different strangers, leading up to big time conclusion and secret. Smith, as promised, does not let down with his great performance. Oscar worthy as usual but not acknowledged by the Academy, so what else is new?, very touching as he really gets the audience to feel and sympathize (and maybe even empathize) with him. The movie rides you through a whirl wind of emotions as there are some humorous parts due to Smith's charm (which is why he is he biggest star in Hollywood right now), but the film mainly is a dramatic and will get you teary eyed. Even if you do not like the movie, you cannot ignore Smith's great performance---as his performance can carry a movie. Rosario Dawson, Woody harrelson, michael ealy and others also give solid performances. The movie also has a good musical score that compliments the tone that it is trying to install upon the audience. Great movie, loved it.

Finally a romantic comedy that is just that: romantic and comical. I saw it with a friend. We both left happy. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday night.

For those of us who want to escape to see a fun, entertaining movie. Renee Zellwiger gives a good performance and the match with Harry Connick Jr's character was good sport. It is a chick flick, but go alone or with your girlfriends and have an enjoyable night out.

Street Kings - Movie Review

Street Kings is a solid, entertaining film. It is a dark action depicting the lives of some LAPD dirty cops, I can't say the movie is flawless, but it's really good, the story gets more interesting as it goes on and it does an excellent job of immersing the audience into the deep, complex plot.

I think they found the perfect cast. They all played amazing parts and did great jobs. They made it really realistic. Chris Evans pretty much had little screen time. Keaunu Reeves did a great job in this as well. I think that he pretty much stole the show from every one though. He pretty much was in each seen. Forest Whitaker did another great job. This was probaly his best movie yet. He made his part very realistic. He was very fun to watch in this movie. Hugh Laurie did a great job as well surprisingly coming from a T.V. show. This was just very entertaining and had some extreme action scenes. Thier was a ton of blood in this movie in a couple different scenes. The messages were pretty much aimed toward cops.

The ending comes too soon and leaves a very important question unanswered, but I think the audience will make the right conclusion.

Let me start off by saying that this movie is really good. Nice twist at the end, i think this ending is quite similar to the movie heat. The person who they are making you think did the killings isn't who you think it is.

Al pacino and de niro and 50 cent are great, apparently in this film Al Pacino turns out to be the serial killer. Very good film. They are a great team, 50 cent's did a pretty good job for a guy who just started acting, gotta give him some credit, because acting is hard, & he will eventually get better.

Two veteran New York City detectives (De Niro and Pacino) work to identify the possible connection between a recent murder and a case they believe they solved years ago; is there a serial killer on the loose, and did they perhaps put the wrong person behind bars?

Wanted - Movie Review

One of the very best action movies this year. Although I don't think I can call this the best action film of all time, it is still fantastic and completely worth watching.

It was a very fun wild ride from start to finish. It surely will give you a good adrenalin rush, don't miss it! James McAvoy is truly a great actor he sure proves that he can play parts other then romantic dramas and Angelina Jolie is just as hot and beautiful as always.

The visuals were great. The special effects were great. The movie gave everything it advertised. There was nothing groundbreaking. But the action was entertaining. So, if you're into wild visuals, engaging action, and a massive amount of headshots, this is a film for you.

The movie was totally funny, it genuinely made me laugh at many parts. In my opinion this was the best movie i have seen for ages. The way they manipulate seriousness into not serious crap, it's hilarious. Tom Cruise had the funniest role I've ever seen along with an all-star cast, i liked ben stiller when he acted the simple jack character, it's so funny! Downey Jr and Jack Black gives a tremendous performance. It was a great film with a pretty good soundtrack!

I've been looking forward to this film since I first saw the preview, which depicts it as a fun and adventurous family movie. This plot can let your imagination run riot, which is the fun of it. The story's appeal is its simplicity; it is straightforwardly about the relationships between a family of people and one strange animal, and the effect the creature has on that family. It was fun to watch, it was suspenseful and the scenery was gorgeous. And adults will enjoy it as well, we will be recommending it to friends.

Nice visuals and an overall charming cast, the strength of family, love, and friendship is what you take home with you.

I found it very good. Great soundtrack and camera angles, they gave us a great group of characters. They hit you from different directions, it reminds me a little of the movie "SNATCH", this movie was so funny and johnny quid was good in the elevator, don't wanna give away too much but it's not that bad, the british humour is always brilliant. Johnny quid is the best part of the movie. He steals the show.

Overall it was quite cool and funny, I was laughing hysterically at some parts, especially the gay jokes.

I enjoyed this movie, It was non-stop intense , and i got my money worth. It had many realistic and jaw dropping scenes. After the movie is over you will be stunned and in shock from the movie you just seen. The acting was done perfectly and couldn't have been better. Some of the quotes in this movie were great. I think many scenes in this movie were inspirational and shocking to watch. The visuals in this movie went along with the movies story and vibe perfectly.

But some people don't like this movie and I don't know why? this movie is something different. It makes us look at ourselves in a different way. Yes, at times its intense, but maybe that's why some people don't like it. And for anyone who finds this movie offensive to the blind, you seemed to have missed the point. In my opinion. If anything it makes you more aware of how dependent you people are on their sight.

Overall, it is a tough movie to watch. An intense and gripping parable that makes you think about life in a different perspective.

I really loved this movie because of Denzel Washington, Denzel parlayed his matinee idol looks and finely hones acting skills. Have you already seen john Q, deja vu and man on fire? naks! that is some of the example of the movie Denzel was staring and he played the most important rule which he acts best.

This film is great, beautiful and inspiring, i was sitting in tears at the end of the film. The knowledge it contains is truly amazing, i learned so much from this. it's a movie that you can watch several times in a row, and it will never get old.

Lakeview Terrace

Sam L. Jackson is an awesome actor, he is one of my all time favorite actors, and I'm sure that all people would also love to see this movie.

I just finished watching the movie, and i must say, it's a good movie, on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 6/7. It was definitely a jumpy type of movie and the scenes got really intense at some points. As for the acting, the way Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington interacted with each other as a couple was not believable. When the acting is bad it throws me off, that's one thing that made me not like the film as much. All in all, it was alright.

But i was surprised with his character and what he did. I didn't like that Latino cop ables partner in this movie for some reason i didn't have a problem with able Samuel L Jackson or the Asian guy that was his neighbor other then that this movie is very intense not probably bad enough to cause a fight however if you get racially offended easily this is not a movie for you higher learning caused fights to break out when it played in theaters back in 1995.

Burn After Reading

The story is all over the place, with Brad Pitt and John Malkovich clearly stealing the show. This movie contains great acting including superb performances by Brad Pitt and John Malkovich. The story is somewhat silly, but that is okay if it is made to be entertaining. There are a few interesting scenes, but that is about it. Frances Mcdormand is cast as a self-absorbed neurotic that I had no sympathy for. Brad Pitt does a great job as a half-crazy personal trainer. George Clooney, as a womanizing-adulterer/ part-time inventor did what he does best, entertained. The best character in the whole movie is JK Simmons as the CIA boss. But they can't save this movie.

I've seen many of the Coen brothers' movies and enjoyed. The only reason I gave this movie a "B" is because I would hate to give the Coen Bros. a "C" after all the great films they have done.

Prom Night

This movie is about a girl named Donna with her friends who are going to their senior prom. But there's a psycho that killed her family and now wants to kill her. I loved the killer they choose for this movie who was played by Johnathon Schaech. Johnathon Schaech is more believable as a disturbed psycho than any of the other infamous slasher-flick killers. He did a great job making himself look like what a real stalker would. I have to admit though, you know who was gonna die. What was gonna happen. It was way too predictable. But you still get scared.

If you are a teenager you will so enjoy this movie.

I actually liked this movie, this movie is amazing. Especially when he's shaking that guys hand and imitating him. i kept rewinding it just so i could laugh at his expressions. I'm biased because Eddie Murphy is one of my fave comedian. It was a bit of a cheap film but i sort of like Eddy Murphy and the film was funny. I knew he had some previous duds but this film was actually good. His facial expressions never fail to make me laugh. (Lol)!

The Wrestler

The Wrestler. Quiet yet strong. Poignant yet never over the top. Stirring, nail biting, electric, somber, sad, hopeful, silently glorious, and releasing. Rarely am I moved to the point where I am in quiet repose over a movie for hours. I cried...my husband even shed a tear. I cried for those that we often never think about twice - the supposed losers, the has-beens, those that we so easily judge as being morally a bit bankrupt - we usually turn a blind eye to them not knowing or understanding their joy and pain and why they are on their particular path.

The people were brilliantly brought to life by stunningly brave and lucid performances from the entire cast. And yes, I agree with most of the critics that this is most definitely an Oscar worthy performance by O'Rourke - rarely do you see such pure passion for a role played out so effortlessly. Marissa Tomei was subtle, and brilliant. Rachel Evan Wood was every bit the embittered child-become-adult. The other wrestlers had this almost tortured beauty to them - their love for their sport and one another was quite apparent.

Everything seemed so very real - no one seemed to be acting. You lose yourself in the characters, paralleling themselves to one another while relating them to yourself. The camera work had a good deal to do with inserting the viewer into the lives of the people they learn to care for - everything was so subtle, yet somehow in your face - you can't escape the character - you aren't allowed to let your mind drift off to your laundry, the kids, work.

This movie is beautifully crafted, loved, nurtured, simple yet incredibly profound. You must go see, hear, and understand it. You will walk out feeling as if these people were your people - a bond that may stay with you forever.

Ever since I saw SAW (no pun intended), I knew that this guy was going to make it big one day. He is starting to do better, now he is in horror fest. I was expecting this one to be like the other horror fest movies, which were decent, but not quite to die for. This one was very entertaining and kept me very interested throughout. The gore level was great, the camera angles were creative, and the death scenes were highly original. Leigh Whannell is one of the best horror male actors out there for the 21st century.

During the impersonation, Wooden's Boy attacks Lewellen and leaves her innocence behind. Lewellen's descent into the cycle of abuse and her own pursuit of self-destruction begins. Was it deep in content? No. Was it fun and amusing? Absolutely. Made us feel like we should adopt a dog and/or a kid at the end.

The Lucky Ones

TK seeking confidence to face his wife after a shrapnel injury that threatens his sexual function decides that he must first see prostitutes to find out if he can still be the husband he wants to be for his wife, and middle-aged Cheever planning to return to a wife who unknown to him is looking to get a divorce and to a son who is in need of twenty grand to go to college. But when an unexpected blackout cancels all flights out of New York, they are forced to make their way to their destinations together. Cheever agrees to share the cost of a rental car for the drive to Pittsburgh with the two similarly stranded servicemen, TK and Colee. After Cheever finds out his wife is looking to divorce him he decides to go to vegas with his fellow travelers. This is a last ditch desperate effort to pay for his son's college tuition. This seems like a film that's made for the obvious ups and downs throughout but it actually manages to be quite original and refreshing. Instead of feeling like a film that's just about resolving the individual situations, it's a lot more carefree and a lot more about these three individual people simply enjoying life together and keeping one another upbeat. Of course there are many different stops on the way to their ultimate destinations in order to give us some situations of them interacting in the real world, but each one is a lot of fun and we gain a little more depth to the characters at each stop. All of the characters are well-fleshed out and don't feel like just another retread of stereotypes we've seen over and over again. And all the way through we are treated to three strong performances from three solid actors. The real star is Rachel McAdams, though, she keeps the laughs coming all the way through and steals just about every single scene with her bright eyes and southern drawl, but you can tell that there is real emotion brimming just under the surface. She's a girl who has every reason to hate life with a fury, but she remains optimistic and tries to get those around her to enjoy living just as much as she does. One scene in particular, when she finally meets the family of her fallen friend, is a showcase for what an extraordinary actress she is, and is definitely one of the best performances of the year. The Lucky Ones is a refreshing and very well-acted story. I give The Lucky Ones a 3 and on my avoidance scale a very big 0, go see this wonderful film.

The Guitar

This film has so many layers and so much integrity. I enjoyed the story, the cast was perfect and all the details that went into making this film was fabulous. I was impressed that the character Miss Burrows played had to have the finest that New York's Underground A list have to offer. Gusto restaurant, Oly furnishings, Catherine Angiel's jewelry. All very authentic to NYC.

If I were diagnosed with a terminal illness, I would have done the same, except I think I would still recycle :)

Don't want to give up the story, so the bottom line is... very cool flick, two thumbs up!

When I saw the commercials, this movie was a must-see for me. So I went and saw it, it lived up to all of my expectations. I found it funny, interesting and the characters were all well-rounded. I love Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudsen and I think they did a great job. I think that out of all of the many chic-flics I have seen this was definately one of my favorite. I really liked it.

Ghost Writer

The story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White.

“Milk” is a love song film to Harvey Milk and his legacy as a Gay Rights Activist. Harvey Milk’s tireless efforts to give the gay community a voice in America and alter the way Americans see our gay brother and sister is soulfully captured. “Milk” gives reality to the idea that a single voice, no matter the life, can change a nation if you have truth on your side. Harvey Milk, used his voice, the voice for survival and fairness to those oppressed in this great nation. Like Martin Luther King Jr., Harvey Milk had charisma and placed his life on the sacrificial Altar of inclusion so others may live their lives to the fullest.

“Milk” is indefatigable while peering into the heart of Harvey Milk’s life and final years living in San Francisco, 1970 to 1978, where his activism leads to a political career (he was known as The Mayor of Castro Street ) and the maintenance of equal rights legislation in the US. Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office and after serving for approximately one year was assassinated by a fellow councilman (Board of Supervisors in California) bringing to a sudden and sad close to a promising career and powerful voice for human rights in America.

“Milk” opens showing newspaper clipping headlines of anti gay sentiment in the nation and the regular and constant rousting of gay men by police from known gay hangouts in cities and towns all across in the US. Director Gus Van Sant introduces us to Harvey Milk at his kitchen table speaking into a microphone taping himself saying for posterity, (I paraphrase here), “…this tape should be played upon my death should I be assassinated”. Van Sant returns often to Mr. Milk sitting at his kitchen table recording high points in his life as a well placed narration throughout the film.

Van Sant and writer Dustin Lance Black reflect upon the Religious Right attacks on gays in the work place with footage of anti gay rights activist/singer Anita Bryant, crusading across America giving speeches of hate glorified by her beliefs in God. When we compare those views from the 70’s to today, it is remarkable how far we’ve come as a nation and the distance we have yet to travel in our universal perspective of our children and neighbors.

The Unborn

With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.

I enjoyed the film. The experience was not too good, but the movie itself was decent. I actually thought that the acting was good, had some balls to make a film like that. I find this film to be a bit of a cult film, since it is directed to the J-Horror audience. If you liked films like The Ring or The Grudge, or Ringu, or Ju-On, you should enjoy this flick. This isn't one that you will jump out of your seat, but you will for sure be creeped out. There were some pretty creepy effects with interesting and well thought out camera shots. I don't care what anybody says, I liked this movie.

Fireproof

First off, the bad news. Yes some of the acting is cheesy. Yes the budget was low and it showed up in a few places. The dialogue was stiff which made the actors look even more awkward. The beginning went by a little too fast, and Caleb's agreement to do the dare was not quite convincing.

But once you get over that hump, the story picks up and you get sucked in. The writers worked hard to give us unexpected twists, lots of comedy relief, and suspense as to whether it will work. Every time you think Caleb is making progress, you hold your breath to see how Catherine will respond. Her friends are on the sidelines encouraging her to go on with divorce even as Caleb tries desperately to get her attention. As crazy as it sounds, you really start to worry that they won't stay together.

Another positive point is that the film is more than just the marriage between Caleb and Catherine. Lots of side stories intertwine to give it all texture. Every detail, from the sleazy doctor to the gossipy nurses to the fire station boys, add up to a whole picture that make the characters feel more like three dimensional people. The train scene and the burning house added a perfect amount of excitement.

But do be mindful that it *is* a Christian film. The gospel is included through Caleb's trust in his dad and plays a big part in his conversion back to loving Catherine.

Overall, it held my attention for the whole two hours and jerked at my heart strings several times. Their problems were realistic and believable, and most importantly, the problems weren't solved with a snap of a finger. Good, compelling, sympathetic story that found clever ways to keep the suspense. Well done.

Katyn

Tells of the Polish officers who were murdered near Katyn by the Soviet secret service NKWD in the spring of 1940. It is also the story of their relatives, many of whom waited for years for the return of their husbands, fathers, sons or brothers. After the invasion of the German Armed Forces on September 1, 1939, and the occupation of east Poland a few weeks later by the Red Army as a result of the Hitler-Stalin pact, all officers of the Polish Army--including reservists, police officers and intellectuals--were taken into Soviet custody.

If you are expecting this to be some kind of war movie, well you'll be disappointed. There are no combat scenes between the great powers of that time but the scenes are haunting nevertheless.

This is the story of the families who were victims of the massacre. The story speeds through the Nazi/Soviet occupation of Poland during the first half of the movie, then it the pain slowly unfolds as the victim's story are retold. The mass execution scene is something not to be missed. It is brutal and haunting. Officers of the Polish Army are butchered in a factory line, and you'd expect such brutality from the Nazi army but not the Soviets.

The reality is not many people knew that Hitler and Stalin were in cahoots when both armies invaded Poland together, dividing up the country.

It's one of those better movie, acting is good and the pace, though lagging at some places, will keep you interested right to the end.

Valkyrie - Movie Review

Based on actual events, a plot to assassinate Hitler is unfurled during the height of WWII.

The movie really makes me want to read more about Hitler and the circumstances and characters in the movie. It would be fun to read more about it and then watch it again. It was awesome movie. Tom cruise, a new Daniel Craig, a new Bond. He performs best in this movie. He not only shares his action with the audience he attracts their attention. He acts so deep, expressing emotional and physical feelings, making the audience want more.

I want to see this movie again and again. Just one thing i didn't like was that mission Valkyrie didn't assassinate Hitler, but i know that wouldn't be right because in real history it didn't happen. Another thing was, they should of spoke in more German, that's what would of made it more alive, but overall i loved it with the actions and suspense in every corner. It should definitely get an award.

Yes Man

A guy challenges himself to say “yes” to everything for an entire year.

Jim Carey is the best thing about this movie. Extremely funny at his antics, brilliant genius. I care about his plight, his need to finally get around to saying yes, but the individual sub plots could have been drawn out a little more. His relationship with is Persian wife, for instance, was funny but could have been milked much more. Zooey Deschanel is funny as well and is a perfect foil for Jim, they should work together again. All in all it was a fun ride from start to finish, but there should have been more campy, dangerous fun. Lol, even deviltry, LMAO, if you know what I mean. A little more daring. Lol. Cmon, lose the safety zone, go all out. But, it was good though.

Dustbin Baby

Iron Man

What an entertainment I got! The movie is absolutely fantastic and the two hours simply flew without realising it. When the movie producers paid mega bucks to get top-notch actors, they really got their millions' worth. Robert Downey Jr who plays Tony Stark / Iron Man, the billionaire industrialist, fits the role. Tony Stark is a multi-layered character. He's an unbelievable genius, a pampered playboy, an extremely likeable character, with great wit and eccentricities, and when things get difficult, yes, Tony Stark has a heart.

He is good-looking, drives expensive cars, lives in this ultra-chic home overlooking the ocean, flirts with women shamelessly and comes up with funny quips. The scene at the beginning where he is being driven from a test site accompanied by three army personnel is quite fun to watch. The three are obviously in awe of Stark, the hot-shot genius, and he breaks the ice ever so effortlessly.

Iron Man isn't about how a good person gets bit and seeks a way to 'save' people, which is the usual staple in superhero movies. Instead, it's about the change in a man's perspectives and thoughts, as he sees the world is not in reality as simplistic as he's convinced himself for years.

Unlike most superheroes, where it's merely a rush in the story to get to the part where the hero puts on the suit, Iron Man slowly undergoes this process. It's not concerned with the usual path. Instead, we concentrate on Tony, as he experiences tough circumstances which leads him to look deeply into himself.

Batman: The Dark Knight

Without a doubt, the batman movie is one of the greatest movies of our time. It is truly an extraordinary piece of cinema as it is a radical departure from the "Superhero" movie genre as we know it.

The action sequences which have applause initiating moments are nicely balanced with the drama throughout this film, which in essence have you wanting to see more now, as you wait for the finale. Each primary character - Christian Bale of course does a great job playing Batman and Ledger did a great job as well. Heath Ledgers' portrayal of the Joker brings us face-to-face with one of the most maniacal psychopaths to grace the big screen. Everyone knows all the speculation about Heath Ledger's death after playing the Joker, and even the speculation of him being chosen in the first place, but there's one thing that there should be no speculation about: his performance. He puts on the best acting performance I've seen in years.

Overall The Dark Knight gets an A+ ___ this movie is breathtaking. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger represent true acting in this film.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

I think you'll love this film. this movie was visually stunning, with some very cool action scenes as expected. Very nice special effect usage within the movie, and The story was very easy to understand, and the comedy used throughout the entire movie was very funny and creative.

The first Hellboy movie was a bit of an oddity, and while I did truly enjoy it, there were some flaws. Given what it was, I still feel that it was a decent attempt at trying to bring a strange and fantastical idea to wondrous reality. Hellboy II The Golden Army does indeed take the next step forward and brings to life the amazing and magical world of mythological creatures, improving greatly upon its predecessor and should give rise to hope for more cinematic adventures of the big red one and his buddies.

The Incredible Hulk

I was surprised to see that this was as a great movie, this movie was worth the money and effort Hollywood spent to remake it, the action scenes won me over, The effects were improved and the story was well balanced with action and plot. The movie started out write away with them explaining what went wrong and how Edward Norton became the hulk. This one was way better than the first Hulk they made. The final battle was insane. This movie probably had one of the best battles in any movie at the end when The good Hulk faced off against the bad. They made the Hulk look so good. A newly designed Hulk looks very realistic, and the redesign looks more human in origins then before. I think that the visuals and special effects were so amazing. Especially each time they had action scenes. Awesome action packed scenes are sprinkled about in perfect amounts and each one had its memorable moments.

If your looking for a movie with a decent story, solid acting, sweet visuals and plenty of mind blowing action than Hulk is your movie to see.

The Punisher is essentially the same character as Batman but much more brutal and dark. Unlike other marvel movies, the Punisher has a more realistic and sadistic approach. Absolutely no mercy in this movie. This movie is also very funny, well, the way people died in this movie was funny to me, and there's little story. From the beginning to the end, there is non-stop action.

The Punisher was dark don't get me wrong but the most memorable thing about the movie is the violence. The gore and deaths don't really do much to further the storyline but in fact takes the forefront.

But oh, my friends, this movie is a different animal. The action is quick, nasty, filthy, disgusting, and soooo SATISFYING! When the Punisher wants to kill someone, he doesn't beat around the bush and talk and waste time, blah, blah, blah. NO, in this tasty flick he just kills them. It's great! Plenty of traumatic head injuries in this thing lemme tell ya.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua was a very interesting, sad and fun story. The adventure begins when Chloe goes to Mexico and is dognapped. Chloe is taken to a "Dogfight" a place in Mexico where a dognapped dog is forced to fight with a hungry bad dog. Luckily, Chloe escapes from the dogfight and finds a friendly German Shepherd friend. The German Shepherd and Chloe try to get back to Beverly Hills. On their way, they meet Sneaky Iguanas, Business Mice, Hungry Cougars, native Chihuahuas, and even poor Papo who had gone looking for her love! But just because Chloe escaped from the Dogfight doesn't mean it is over. The bad dog has gone looking for Chloe because the bad dog's owner knows Chloe is worth something.

The writers did an exceptional job of creating a storyline to demonstrate some important messages "meaning of love, friendships, good vs. evil, vigilance and heroism". The storyline was cute, and I actually had a few good laughs. It is a wonderful movie to take your children to see, believe me they will love it.

W. - Movie Review

The story is the reason you go to see this, when I saw the previews for this movie, I thought it was going to be a parody of George Bush. However, the primary focus of the movie was about George Bush's life prior to becoming president, and his life after becoming president. Let's face it Bush is a president that faced many situations that no other president ever faced. I think the movie shows his zest for life and his rebellious side that Clinton and Kennedy also had. this film is not a bomb and yes it does have a couple moments that make you laugh. I’m sure Democrats salivate and Republicans cringe when they see this film. The fact that this movie was released so close to the election date I find absolutely appealing.

I believe Stone tried to be more than fair throughout the film. Oliver Stone knocks it out of the park in the sense of restraining his own opinions and staying in scope on a story strictly about a man and his dad. However the end runs a bit astray, much like the Iraq War, and could use some roping in or less editing.

Just go see this entertaining movie and relax it is just a movie.

Role Models - Movie Review

This movie is pretty fun and turned out to be pretty cool depending on what kind of humor you like and if kids cussing is okay with you. The plot is fine and easy to follow. It also wasn't so absurd that it detracted from the movie. There were at least a dozen or so laugh out loud moments. The movie also has funny lines by most of the characters and not just the stars. A good movie to take the edge off and just enjoy when you are not looking for something serious.

I laughed so hard almost the entire movie. I highly recommend this movie. it was hysterical. great cast, great story line, great lines to quote around the friends. it was truly one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while.

Overall funny and enjoyable.

Pride and Glory - Movie Review

I really liked watching how the story played out. I think it was very believable and the character acting was top notch by everyone. I think this is possibly the best movie so far in this year, except for the dark knight. this is gritty, dark, and depressing. It has a great story and the acting is really oscar worthy. If you want to see a film that is extremely well acted and riveting this is for you. don't watch this if you don't like hard and brutal movies.

Every scene of this film will have you wondering what in the hell is going to happen next. Edward Norton is so believable in the role of Ray. he gives you this chill in the character he plays it makes you want actually want him for real. Colin character plays a bad guy which is good and I have never seen Colin Farrell play such a bad guy and he delivered beyond expectations. I loved every minute of this film.

Overall, this is well acted, great movie with non stop action and was given a "B+" Overall Rating!

This movie is based on true story about a mother who lost her child in the 1929 and found herself trapped in corrupt LAPD system. The acting is very good especially Angelina Jolie as the mother. The music score put me in some kind of emotional trance. Basically, this movie has kept me interested from start fo finish like a rollercoaster journey (more than 2 hours long though). It has some mystery in it.

Anjelina Jolie is a gem of an actress who known about the methods of galvanizing emotion well, this is a movie about hope and love, and commitment to a cause, that never goes astray or fails even in the darkest, dimmest times.

Please go see the movie, I'm not the best at writing reviews, I've written a few, but only to the ones who either totally did, or totally did not deserve to be seen. I hope this review has helped, go with no expectations, you will leave amazed!

Bolt - Movie Review

It was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a while! The entire audience spent a lot of time laughing and like every Disney movie there are some good morals to be learned. It is a movie for both kids and adults, and everyone will find something to love.

The story begins with Bolt on the set of the TV show "Bolt" (which he has no clue it's a show) where he witnesses Penny abducted in a cliffhanger. Confused and thinking Penny was kidnapped for real, Bolt chases around the studio and accidentally gets shipped to New York. There he meets a cat named Mittens, whom he believes to be in league with the Green Eyed Man "the shows antagonist". Mittens, playing along with what she thinks is a joke, realizes Bolt is from Hollywood. Bolt takes Mittens as his "prisoner" and, after arriving at a trailer park in Ohio, meet Rhino, a ball-bound hamster.

After a series of misadventures "including a hilarious scene at an animal shelter" in which Mittens teaches Bolt to be a real dog, Bolt and his companions reach Las Vegas, where Bolt, still bent on getting back to Penny, leaves Mittens, who seems to have grown a crush on Bolt, after an argument about staying in Vegas "who wouldn't want to stay in Vegas forever?"

Bolt reaches Penny in the studio, where Bolt has been replaced against Penny's wishes. After seeing the replacement Bolt and Penny rehearsing a scene, Bolt leaves, but turns around when the studio catches fire. Mittens and Rhino (who followed Bolt to LA) help Bolt get in to rescue Penny. Afterwords Bolt, Rhino, and Mittens have moved in with Penny and her mother. Penny fired her agent and quits the show. In closing, "Bolt" is a nonstop adventure and will satisfy kids and adults

City of Ember - Movie Review

I just saw the movie, in my opinion the story stands on its own, the acting and all was believably done, and the visuals were great for the environment in which the story takes place. The description wasn't exactly accurate, the girl didn't have to jimmy the lock, for it was already open. Something made clear in the first few minutes of the film.

The movie is called "The City of Ember" because the city itself is the prize jewel of the film. Taking it out leaves a rocky action film that crumbles under its weight. But leaving it in and looking at the film as a whole, it's pretty good. I think it does show one thing though, no matter how innocent a population might be, there still a nature in man to be greedy or selfish, traits seen in some of the characters.

Overall, It was interesting movie. Not particularly thrilling but the storyline moved quickly with a satisfying ending. This is a safe movie for the whole family, though real young children may not enjoy it.

Twilight - Movie Review

First and foremost, let me tell you. To be fair, no matter how well and rarely a movie may be, it usually cannot be compare to the book. If you're so obsessed with your own interpretation of the books that you protested breaking down, you will probably not like this movie. Unless, it becomes okay to make/sit through 4-10 hour movies, they just can't fit everything in. It's impossible. However, who ever takes on the daunting task of translating book to film has the complete responsibility of getting the very essence of the material and get it right. I know movies need to cut books down to make them fit better for a visual media, but there were some scenes that got left out and/or changed that I felt truly needed to be there or left like the book's.

It's a little weird in the beginning of the movie. Started off in the forest and then jumped to arizona but still pretty cool. when edward was first shown, he really did look like the edward from the book.

Overall, I'd give this movie a B. I'm not one of those people who is going to hate the movie just because it doesn't follow the book exactly. It's a love story, it was already a bit weird as a book, but how else can you reproduce "emotion" The emotion was definitely there.

I personally loved it. it definitely exceeded my expectations. This is definitely a great movie to see. The visuals were breathtaking, The transitions between scenes could have been smoother and the acting left a little to be desired. The dialogue sometimes seemed forced. Pattinson and Stewart really had some great chemistry and the heated and tension filled glances they repeatedly gave each other were right on the mark.

You Don't Mess With the Zohan - Movie Review

It's a funny movie, full of near non-stop laughs, Zohan is fresh and the gags are new and funny. There is a decent amount of nudity here, but from the back end. When Zohan has to do pelvic thrusts to old ladies laying back while getting their hair washed, it kept the Young's in the theater laughing along with the continuous sexual innuendos. So this is not a family film.

There is some first class directing and generally fun camera work going on in the film that make the scenes really special and lend a perfect comedic air to it all.

Everybody was in the film that you see in all the other Adam Sandler's film. Hilarious jokes, although. I do not recommend this for children. It has a lot of adult humor. Truly, I think I laughed at this movie more than any of Sandler's other films, including Click, Billy Madison, and Wedding Singer. Great, and everyone with a sense of humor should go and see this funny movie.

I liked the movie but didn't love it. This movie was unique and funny. but not at the points most people where laughing at. The subtle humor is delicious. You have to be prepared to hear incredible raunchy lines and some very shocking scenes and laugh your head off.

The poop scene was hilarious, the dialogue in the beginning of the movie i thought was clever and funny but i felt that as the movie dragged on it seemed to fall off track and simply just lag, almost like you were waiting for more of what you saw in the beginning.

I agree there was a little too much profanity but it wasn't unbearable and the constipated part kinda pushed the envelope but all in all it was a great movie. Lots of funnies, I loved the ending when the dude from the producer dude brings Zach over to his house at the end, the producer and his wife get into it, awesome. Zach and Mirie go to their reunion, awesome! The scene at the end when Zach goes back to his apartment and they he talks to Mirie and his actor in the movie, Fantastic! And when Zach gets his picture taken, he is always displaying the 'Shocker'. It was pretty vulgar and lots of 'up to date' sex jokes and reference's.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - Movie Review

The movie was outstanding, one of the best under hyped movies I watched. This movie was all about the penguins. The Penquins and the Monkeys were just a side stories but they almost stole the show. The scene with the Penquins and Monkeys engaged in a collective barganing agreement was hilarious. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Between the giggles of the children in the audience to the chuckles of the adults, I couldn't tell who was enjoying the movie more. And yes, its better than the first one.

Personally I think the story line was kind of ridiculous, but they got the job done as far as entertainment goes, though very short it got through the whole thing at a good pace. A good amount of funny moments, the visuals were flawless, Best animated movie this year. I will definitely add this movie to my collection when the video will be released.

I sincerely appreciate producers/writers/actors making this a fun experience for adults as well as children and I think all the voices fits the personality of the character (VERY GOOD).

This was absolutely amazing! Go see this movie, its worth your money and time to go see it!

I took my friends to see this movie. I really enjoyed this film and all my friends felt the same way after seeing it. This movie is funny and gave me what I was looking for in a comedy right now. We love Will Ferrell in all his movies and this one did not disappoint, we loved this.

Will Farrell was very good and did everything perfect for this part. Woody Harrelson also brought a lot to this movie. Andre Benjamin keeps shining in each and every movie he plays in. He will only get better and better as the more movies he plays in. The thing that made the movie even better than it was is becuase it is rated R. It had a lot of adult humor and lots of stuff for teens. They talked a lot about sex and some very dirty things. It was still done it very good taste despite it being rated R and the dirty humor. It also taught us to be able to play are hearts out and give it everything we got even if we don't have anything to play for.

Go see the movie if you must! It has some laughs but if you think about it. It's just another Ferrell movie with the same type of jokes and if your okay with that then you won’t have much of a problem with this movie.
